September 18, 2011. Paddy and I were in Beach Haven, NJ when we spotted a sign for Barnegat light. We were never at the light before so we travelled up Long Beach Island to check it out.
There were several markers that explained the history of the area.
Following the path from the parking lot we found the majestic light in the clear. At the base we found another monument to the creator of the lighthouse, Lt. General George Meade. There was a guard rail along a walk way that had a great view of both the Barnegat Bar and the Atlantic Ocean.
The clouds were unique today and as the sun set in the west, the view was splendid.
I'm glad we took the side trip to see the light.
