March 22, 2014. Paddy and I had to choose between this parade and the St Patrick's parade in Keyport. The internet information was clearer and more informative for this Highlands parade, so that's where we went. We wanted lunch and remembered that there was a pub at the start of the parade.
The pub was the Claddagh and we both had Shepherd's Pie.
After lunch, we headed out to Bay Avenue where folks were preparing for the parade.
At 2:15 the parade started.
Parade over and Paddy and I headed to Red Bank for coffee.
The highlands parade was very nice indeed. It was well orchestrated with no gaps between divisions, that we usually experience. There were also a good number of bagpipe bands in addition to the local high school.
