May 9, 2015. The unity tour honors fallen comrades and raises awareness of officers killed in the line of duty. This year, the start of the tour took place at Red Bank Police Headquarters with a ceremony to honor Chief Steve McCarthy who died two years ago from cancer. Twelve Red Bank officers are in the bike tour this year, as cyclists or support staff, and will travel from Red Bank to Washington DC.
Having left the staging area in Marine Park, 250 bicycle riders, and all the support teams, traveled down Monmouth Street to the Red Bank Police Headquarters for the start of the ceremony.
