August 16. 2017. The BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir building is huge, with the Mandir (Hindu place of worship) in the very center. At first I thought the trip would be problematic because there was NO PHOTOGRAPHY inside the Mandir; however, one can take photos in the lobby area, which contains just about all of the marble art work you could want to see. Also, one can take photos outside the building too. To visit the Mandir, everyone must take off their shoes and women must have a cover (shawl). The snack shop is just that, don’t expect to have a meal there. There is a huge event planned for the Mandir in August-September 2017and lots of large temporary tents were placed on the outside campus.
