August 10, 2019. Standardbred Pleasure horse show at the Horse Park of NJ.
The riders entered the arena and over a loudspeaker system they were directed to walk their mounts forward, then gallop, then reverse walk etc.
For half of the event, the two judges were evaluating their performance and taking many notes in a gazebo off to the side of the arena.
For the last half of the event, the two judges were in the arena directing the riders to do special things, such as walk their mounts backward etc.I
During the show there was also a charity event.
Many ribbons were awarded: blue: 1st place, red: 2nd place, yellow: 3rd place and white: 4th place.
Friends, family members and spectators were present at the entrance gate.
There was quite a span of ages in the riders, and all were very talented.
After much hard work, the smile you get when you win the 1st place blue ribbon tells all.
Paddy and I sat on a bench under a nearby shade tree and really enjoyed the show.
