DEEP CUT GARDENS - MIDDLETOWN, NJ

(Scroll down to see all photos)

August 23, 2024.   Driving east from the Garden State Parkway on Red Hill Road - aprox 4 miles.

Entrance to the parking lot.

Parking lot with gazebo.

Notice the park bench. Fortunately there are many in the gardens for us old folks.

First stop is the greenhouse.

Lush plants that are watered every day.

There are many walking paths, some are flat some go up stairs.

Fortunately the go up stairs path has a bench to rest.

Along one of the paths was this small water pool. Again, it had a bench.

The destination for today's trip is the white umbrella in the backgrond. Notice that I'm sitting on a bench in the shade.

I visited the gardens 14 years ago in June. The flowers were more vibrant in June than in late August.

I enjoyed my visit to the gardens, it was very peaceful and there were numerous park benches for us old folks.

HISTORY: Deep Cut Gardens is part of the Monmouth County Park System. It is spectacular and peaceful, but many may not know that the garden was once the country estate of Vito Genovese, the infamous Mafia crime boss. Genovese designed the gardens to look like those of his native Italy.
