July 24, 2009. The heavy rain caused the cancellation of the fair on the 23rd, but today the weather was perfect.
Upon arrival, we saw the lady on stilts and the clowns entertaining the kids.
There was a tent displaying vintage tractors and the latest in tractor technology. As one would expect, there was plenty of food vendors selling anything one would want.
This year there was a BBQ contest and all the participants thought they had the best in the world.
When I saw this "southern" BBQ sign, I told the owner that my daughter lives in Georgia and they think they have the best BBQ around. He told me that his group beat the Georgia crowd in serious competition. He displayed the high quality meat that he was to place onto the BBQ grill.
The fair was definitely catering to the kids as there was a very large area with rides.
This ride was really moving fast. I had to speed up the camera shutter to capture the photo. I thought the girl on the right was holding her ear for some reason so I blew up the photo and discovered that she was on a cell phone while going high speed on the ride !
The 4H club was giving awards to the youth with the best care of their animal. This young lady won a Blue Ribbon in her class.
We stopped by the bird and animal area and enjoyed their facial expressions.
There was a timber competition where two guys raced to complete various speed tasks with saws. They were pretty fast.
Before leaving, we watched the Longstreet Farm horse drawn wagon maneuver an obstacle course. It was interesting to see the rig backup while in a turn.
