BELMAR SANDCASTLE CONTEST 2010

July 28, 2010.  Rained out on its originally scheduled date of July 14th, the weather today was perfect and large crowds of folks turned out for a great day.  D'Jais Grill, across the street from the contest at the 18th street beach, and Belmar Tourism, can be proud of the excellent job they did putting this fun event together.

The first couple of hours saw intense digging by all, plus carrying many, many buckets of water from the ocean to "harden" the art work.

Taking a break found local radio stations, and food vendors, giving out free snacks and a most popular activity was when the kids were given straw hats and the adults given leis.

D'Jais came to the rescue with free cold water, perfect for the hot day.

Other activities were folks taking photos, and the media taking videos.

Still others, who wanted to have their pictures taken.

The beach was crowded with sunbathers and out on the ocean were parachute gliders.
